In our ongoing effort to get me to try new things, we went to Teharu Sushi, near the corner of Ray and Priest Roads, in Tempe AZ USA. It's one of those sushi places where the little servings of sushi travel on conveyor belts. I had my usual -- eel and California Rolls (ironically, I don't like the taste of raw fish).
The restaurant is very close to Arizona State University, and the place was filled mostly with students. We sat next to four college girls, each one of whom ate twice as much as either of us ate. I was amazed, considering how healthy and slim they were.
I tried one of these bottles of Japanese sodas, called Ramune. The soda is sealed in the bottle by a marble which plugs the opening at the top. You take off the sealing wrapper, and you end up with a piece of plastic which you place over the cap and, very forcefully, push down to force the marble down into the bottle. Not knowing this, I threw the wrapper (with the instructions) and, after fiddling with it for several minutes, had to ask one of the servers to open it for me. Part of the gimmick is that the marble falls down and, with the indentations made into the side of the bottle, makes a "face" that apparently delights children. Another think I did not know is that you commonly remove the marble and take it as a little souvenoir. The drink it self was pretty good (very sweet lemon-lime, but comes in several other flavors).
