It's only been six days since Christmas, and I've been making good use of this replacement for my fax, copier, scanner and printer. Our fax machine died a long time ago, and we've been making trips to the nearby Kinko's on those rare occasions when we need to send a fax, and I've been using efax to receive faxes as email attachments.
But it was a lot of work-arounds not having a fax machine and/or copier. I'd take pictures of documents and save/send them as jpegs, or I'd use the fax machine at work to send documents to efax and eventually convert them to pdf files. So it's been nice having the HP 5610.
I've been scanning my important papers and documents. I was planning on saving them online, but have decided against it (these are scans of my original SSN card, leases, summaries of my benefits, etc.) I'll probably burn them onto CD once a year, or possibly invest in an external drive. I tend to save a lot of documents, and I think I'm ready to make the leap to digital.
But I will miss my cardboard file box.
