A few weeks ago, our vacuum cleaner pooped out (that will make our 4th vacuum cleaner in 10 years). We were having limited success using a broom, and so we decided to get a new one.
Our dream machine would have been a Dyson but we weren't willing to pay the price for what might be an every-other-year purchase, so we went with the Eureka Boss 4D model, for about 130 bucks.
It's a bagless. I was torn between a bagless vs. bagged. I think the bagless ones generate a lot of dust when you empty them, but at least you won't be without a vacuum when the bag fills and you've run out of new bags (that kept happening to us with a Hoover vaccum 2 machines ago).
Boy these gadgets are getting gimmicky (and we LOVE it). This version has all of the usual, but I really like the "Power Paw," which is meant for vacuuming stairs but it works great on our sofas and rips the cat hair right off of them.
There's also a detachable feather duster. I know this is right out of the "There's One Born Every Minute" category, but it sits in this little chamber, and when you put it in the chamber and push a button, it SPINS AROUND and the vaccum sucks the dust bunnies off. It TELESCOPES out about 3 feet so we can reach our ceiling fans. And when getting de-bunnied, the spinning sets up an ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE that makes it a DUST MAGNET.
Yeah well there really is one born every minute and there were two of us out shopping for vacuums that night so we just ate it right up.
We've used it once and we're happy with the performance. It's loud as hell but the cannister was filled after just vacuuming our living/dining room (although that could have been due as much to the fact that it had been a while since the last vacuum as a testament to the effectiveness of the machine).
Yes De-bunny is a word.
sounds like a neat vacuum! I'm a personal fan of the smaller oreck vacuum due to the light weightness of it while still having power.. downside is the onboard attachments those use a separate vacuum. That being said, my arsenal in the house was my main oreck, my oreck w/hand attachments and my feather duster.. (that was pre-maids) now i pretty much just sweep every few days.. but I totally understand the concept of the feather duster cleaning chamber... other wise you'd have to go outside on the back deck and whip the dust back in the air to get your feather duster clean after mopping up bunnies.. its a process that would frequently leave me in fits of sneezing when I dusted esp after the drywall guys came to do the garage.. congrats on what sounds like a good cat hair machine!
