Never have I understood the hospital convention of weighing patients on the night shift. "So the doctors know the weight when they come in for the morning" is the refrain.

Seems to me that accurate intake/outputs are a better measure of diuresis, and you don't have to awaken people at 0500 to document those.


If your docs are complaining about the inaccuracies of patient weights, things aren't busy enough for them. My goodness.
