I was supposed to work tonight, but I had my extra shift canceled due to low census. Of course, I am currently doing the Happy Hula Dance of Glee. It reminds me of that feeling I would get as a grade school student, when snow would fall, and school would get canceled.
God I miss rice. I've decided to just about eliminate it from my diet. White rice really is the equivalent of a Milky Way bar, but we Asians and Pacific Islanders just love it. Whenever I sit down to a dish of meat that comes with some kind of sauce, it feels un-natural to eat it without rice. I've missed the passing of my rice more painfully than any person I have dated, loved and then bitterly lost. It's an ache that never goes away. A flower blooming in the desert. My heart rises and sets in rice. OK that's enough for now.
I read on 43 Folders some great tips on how to schedule meetings:
- Make everyone drink a bottle of water before coming to the meeting.
- Schedule the meeting just before lunch.
- Remove all the chairs from the room.
- Meeting's over when everyone needs to pee.
I love it.
John: I was never really into bread, but giving up spaghetti and pizza has been a challenge. For some reason, I crave pizza or spaghetti at 0400 AM, especially when I'm at work. No idea why.
Maria: I was going to do the "How do I Love Thee? Let me count the ways" thing but that would have been too much, no? :-)

I know how you feel I am not Asian, but I also miss rice, and bread, very much. I can finally eat a very small amount of Pasta, but rice and bread is a no-no...
There really is no subsitute, either... It's kind of a one of a kind dish...
