I've managed to get to work an hour early. I actually do this pretty often, since B (that's my room mate) and I drive to work together. Come to find that there's not much to do when you get here that early. I didn't want to sit in the staff lounge, and if I sit at the nurses' station, they find a way to put me to work (and I'll have 12 hours of that soon enough). I guess I could have waited in the car -- at least I could listen to music. But soon it will be to hot to sit in the car.
So I find myself sitting in an out-of-the-way stairwell. Rarely used. I've been sitting here for almost 20 minutes of quiet bliss. Cool.
So I've been tapping away on my Palm. I'm amazed at the signal strength in here -- I may be able to moblog from here.
My thoughts, inexplicably, turn to, of all things, Trackback. I see this functionality on a lot of blogs, and did some research. Let's say I read a blog entry, and wish to respond. I have three choices. In the old days of blogging, I would respond by email. In the past several
years, commentinq became even more convenient, and it also had the advantage of allowing all readers to read the comment. The latest and greatest comment systems provide clickable links to the commentor's email and URL (this is an excellent way to get traffic, btw).
But this Trackback thing goes one better. When I read a blog that has trackback enabled, I can write an entry on my own (trackback capable) blog, and I can send a Ping to the original blog. Now, when readers go to that original blog, they can access a list of all trackbacks, get a link to my blog entry, and the first sentence or two of my entry. Neat. I'm so taken by this function, I intend to use trackbacks more than comments.
Enough of my ramblings. Time to start my day. Wish me luck.
