It was bound to happen sooner or later. I woke up yesterday afternoon, and it felt really hot. I wondered if maybe we had set the thermostat a bit to high. I stumbled out into the hallway and looked at the thermostat. Set for 72. Current temperature 80.
Way to hot for us. I prefer the thermostat at a chilly 70-72 and sometimes we'll bump it up to 74. But at 80 degrees, we're sweatting where we really shouldn't be sweatting.
We called the apartment complex. At just before sunset, they couldn't send anyone out immediately because they wouldn't be able to go up on the roof (where the unit is) after dark. They did offer the ability to spend the night at a nearby hotel.
We decided to stick it out. 80's hot to us, but I did sleep during the day and am usually awake during the night when it is cooler. right now, it's 89 degrees outside, and about 82 inside. I've taken a cold shower, and then decided to sit in a tap water bathtub while reading my Kindle, and stayed pretty cool that way.
They said they'd be here at 730 this morning, so hopefully we'll get this straightened out this morning. If not, I'll have to think about that hotel thing.
Today is forecast to be the hottest day of the year at 115 degrees. Damn.
Thankfully, they got here at 7am the next morning, and we were in the 70's within the hour. Air conditioning... it really must be a plot to weaken us... I spent most of the night sitting in a bathtub of cold water (reading my kindle in a ziploc plastic bag)...
